The term RF module can be applied to many different types, shapes and sizes of small electronic sub assembly circuit board. It can also be applied to modules across a huge variation of functionality and capability. RF modules typically incorporate a printed circuit board, transmit or receive circuit, antenna, and serial interface for communication to the host processor.

Most standard, well known types include: RF transmitter module, RF receiver module, RF transceiver module, SoC (system on a chip) module. But RF Modules can also be classified into three categories, according to different usage functions and product parameters:

ASK Modules: include ASK transmitter module & ASK receiver module, mainly used for simple wireless remote control and data transmission;

FSK Transceiver Module: mainly used to control wireless data transmission and reception through MCU, generally use FSK, GFSK modulation mode;

Wireless Transparent Transmission Module: Mainly used to send and receive data directly through the UART serial port

If differ them from the working frequency, there are 315MHz RF modules, 433MHz RF modules, 470MHz RF modules, 868MHz RF modules, 915MHz RF modules, 2.4GHz RF modules...
