In the daily life, we always see different coaxial connectors on the electronic devices, especially on its RF Antenna or connecting cable, but do you know the difference between SMA interface and SMB interface? Today, I have made a quick conclusion, you can read this article to know more:
SMA interface: it is a kind of miniature screw connection coaxial connector widely used, with long service life, superior performance and high reliability. It is widely used in RF coaxial cable or microstrip of microwave equipment and digital communication equipment. The typical feature of SMA is 1/4-36UNS threaded connection mechanism, the inner diameter of outer conductor is 4.13mm, the outer diameter of inner conductor is 1.27mm, and the material is usually PTFE. Its derivative series are: QMA, BMA, etc. And 3.5mm and 2.92mm are generated for spread spectrum base on it. In wireless devices, it is commonly used to test the RF module of GPS clock to base station on a single board, while flexible coaxial cable is usually used for installation.
SMB interface: it is a small push lock RF coaxial connector with compact size, light weight, easy to use and excellent electrical performance. It is suitable for connecting coaxial cable in high frequency circuit of radio equipment and electronic instruments. In wireless equipment, it is often used to connect E1 transmission cable of base station to DDF small transmission box of base station.
In short, both SMA and SMB interfaces are small coaxial connectors, but the SMA interface is threaded and the SMB interface is push in, which can be used in wireless devices. After reading this article, I hope you will have a better understanding of SMA interface and SMB interface. If there is anything you don't understand, please send us an email or leave us a message.
